@odd Darn. My current job requires me to remain in the States. Else I would have already gone to that Irish island with all the fiber optic.

@Miraz What you said! I was watching on the Washington Post live stream. I was already feeling favorable that the chosen person was a nonwhite woman, and then she started using sign language and it sent me straight to weepy land.

@v Wooo hoo! Just the other day someone in here mentioned the Murderbot Diaries, which are neck-and-neck with the Imperial Radch series as my favity-faves. I love Breq and I love SecUnit. Such characters!

@jayeless Concur with you. I currently identify as Progressive, but that has more to do with where my country is and what I feel it needs to change now than what I believe the ultimate goal is. The label police make it so much harder to build coalition.

@kimberlyhirsh I don't personally relate but I see a lot of article fatigue in Academic Twitter. I'm not an academic but I wound up there anyway.

@Gaby If I remember correctly, it's the whole story. I read the book rather a long-ish time ago, before the series started.

@springdew Qualified to add "partial" to "greatness", as there are huge swaths of the population for whom America was never great.

@odd I don't think you are mistaken. And it makes me a little crazy that if you want to Make America Great Again, you should want to undo what undid the greatness. I.E. trickle-down economics. But nooooo.

@Gaby You are right, it is Season 3 that we are two episodes into. FWIW I read the book, but this hasn't helped me. I lose track of the storyline.

@Gaby The most recent season only just started, so if you prefer to binge (I usually do) you might want to give it a few weeks. I had to go back and rewatch a bunch that I forgot.

@jayeless Looks like great fun. I want a dog beach. I take my dogs to ordinary beach, and that's fine, but judgments.

@springdew Part of my mission on Earth is discovering and promoting a different definition of justice, one that is about leveling the playing field for all, bringing opportunity to those who have been denied it.
